Understanding The Importance Of A Wider Digital Marketing Strategy (Part 2)

Posted by James Brockbank on

In our previous post, we took a look at just two main digital marketing strategies of SEO and PPC, however we're keen to showcase that a successful digital marketing campaign doesn't just revolve around a single approach and needs to utilise a range of techniques and tactics to drive web traffic and subsequent business from all angels. As such, here we're going to take a look at three more of what we believe to be the main approaches needed to be successful online; email marketing, content marketing and social media marketing.

Email Marketing

Whilst we're always going to portray our love for email, it's a marketing approach which has stood the test of time and when done correctly, still works wonders. So long as you're sending the right email to the right people at the right time, you can generate significant levels of business with this approach yet it's still one which many businesses continue to ignore time after time.

To get you started, why not take a look at our range of b2b data lists which can be purchased either by job title, by industry, by region or as a full UK database. With this, you'll be able to start your email campaign straight away knowing you're using highly qualified and trusted, opted-in data which we know works!

From there, it's important that you spend time building your own list to add to this, however there's nothing better than a well prepared list to get you off to a good start!

Content Marketing

Content marketing and SEO are now almost one and the same, however in short, content marketing is all about creating great content which your target audience WANT to read. Forget old-school SEO content which made absolutely no sense to anyone, content marketing is about placing great content which represents your brand perfectly in front of those who are actively looking for your products and services.

Whether you do that in the form of blogging, videos, infographics or ideally a combination of them all, you need to ensure you're not only creating what your target market want to see but also placing it in front of them. Your own blog and guest features on leading industry resources are great starting points but get creative and see what you can come up with!

Social Media Marketing

A difficult point for many business, social media marketing has its place for every business, however what many struggle with is the fact that it rarely produces instant returns unlike many other forms of marketing. With social media, whether you're utilising Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus or any other of the many platforms available, it's important to understand that it's all about building brand awareness and developing relationships with those who may become a customer a little further down the line.

Yes, it is uncommon to see instant returns, however that's the same with SEO, content and many other forms of digital marketing. Things take time to work well, however social is often seen as a little differently solely because it's much harder to measure. It is, however, well worth spending time on, if only to build and develop your brand as who knows, that potential customer who you connect with could just be your next big spender.

Above all, digital marketing is no longer simply a case of choosing your approach and hoping for the best! With so many approaches and tactics now being utilised, it makes sense to make your strategy a combination of them all. It's what needs to be done to succeed online and if you want to make money, it's a mindset you need to get yourself into!
